About Data Protection People

We are based in the heart of Leeds, working with happy clients across Europe. Our unique team has unrivalled experience gained in senior roles in the public and private sector, including the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office.

Our Data Protection team has a strong academic grounding, with team members holding post-graduate and professional qualifications in the field of information rights law and data protection practice, whilst our Information Security team hold industry qualifications such as CESG Certified Professional, Certified Information Systems Auditor, and BSI Lead Auditor.

By combining specialist consultancy, managed services, and compliance software, we are able to offer our clients an end-to-end data protection and information security service.

We also maintain a dedicated QSA Practice, that sits within our PCI and Information Security division. Our QSA Practice is engaged by retail brands, payment service providers, and multinational organisations (including commercial and domestic energy), to provide experienced Quality Security Assessors that understand complex technical environments.

Data Protection People is a part of the Storm Technology Group that also includes the Penetration Testing company Pentest People, the Malware Protection company InfoSecurity People and the Advanced Monitoring Tools company, RapidSpike.

Phil Brining is DPPs Operations Director responsible for the delivery of all of our services. Phil has a broad range of project, operations, and consulting experience over several industries and has practiced as a data protection and information governance specialist since 2006 engaged by several multi-national organisations as well as many small to medium sized businesses and charities.

To compliment his experience Phil’s qualifications include BSc Management, MBA, PGDip Information Law and Practice, PGCert Information Law and Practice, PDP Data Protection Practitioner Certificate along with professional training in ISO9001 auditing, BS10012 consulting and EFQM implementation: all of which is relevant to running Data Protection People’s delivery activities.

Outside of data protection and information rights law Phil enjoys dinghy sailing, skiing, camping and spending time with his family.

David joins Data Protection People as the Sales & Marketing Director. With over 15 years experience in Business to Business sales, David is a key addition to the senior management team who offers an undoubted sales passion and drive to succeed.

As a sales focused individual, David can demonstrate an impressive track record in corporate and public sector sales selling a variety of different solutions, ranging from Content Management and Application Integration Software through to Infrastructure/Network Managed Services and IT security solutions. It is David’s passion for security and keeping his clients data secure that has provided a platform for Data Protection People to be born.

Prior to joining Data Protection People, David was a Senior Business Development Manager at Montal Computer Services (acquired by Castleton Technology PLC in June 2014) where he was responsible for the growth of the organisations customer base within the Social Housing Sector.

Born and raised in Leeds, David is a proud “Yorkshireman” who actively follows Leeds United, Leeds Rhino’s and Yorkshire Cricket. In his spare time David is also a keen squash player, although as he is married with two young children the amount of time he can devote to this hobby is reducing rapidly!

Andrew is committed to ensuring that the company develops innovative market-changing solutions. He is a leading networking and security expert, having attained numerous globally recognised qualifications such as CISSP, PCI QSA, Check Team Leader and CCIE. Andrew is also an MBA graduate of Leeds University.

An active entrepreneur and technologist, Andrew has over 25 years industry experience and has owned various successful technology organisations during his career. Most notably RandomStorm, a leading information security organisation. Throughout his career Andrew has held a range of technical lead positions and is a self-confessed disruptive innovator.

Andrew is the author of several market defining books on Cisco products and network security technologies. In his spare time Andrew enjoys spending time with his family and enjoying hobbies such as mountain biking, golf and travel.

A self-confessed entrepreneurial sales professional, Robin has an impressive track record spanning over 20 years in corporate sales across various sectors including office equipment, network services and IT security.

Robin was the cofounder of RandomStorm, a leading IT security company. In fact, Robin has worked with start-up businesses for the majority of his career, including Boxing Orange, Webscreen and views himself as a specialist in business development.

Having developed a proven sales formula, Robin brings a wealth of sales expertise to the management team.

When he gets chance to relax, Robin enjoys spending time with his family, as well as hobbies such as golf, skiing, running and tennis.
